David’s body was gone; he could not feel himself breathing and the swirls and vortices of colour and light bore no resemblance to any physical object. Bewildering multidimensional shapes that could be viewed from hundreds of angles rushed through his mind.  Curious ephemeral beings experienced in past, present and future blinked in and out of his awareness. Powerful emotions flickered through his consciousness - love, hate, pain, anger - but never lingered long enough to experience in any depth or to understand their source.
